ARCHIVES & ARCHITECTURE, LLC is a cultural resources management firm in San Jose, California, with a satellite office in Santa Cruz, California.

Established in 1989 by the late Glory Anne Laffey, Historian, the firm’s managing partners today include Franklin Maggi, Architectural Historian, Leslie Dill, Historic Architect, and Charlene Duval, Public Historian. With over a decade of working together as a team, the present partners have built the firm into one of the most well-respected cultural resource management companies in Northern California.

Formed to provide professional services in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Areas, ARCHIVES & ARCHITECTURE contracts with public agencies, private businesses, and individuals for technical historical investigations and project management services. We now also provide a broad range of services in the field of local history and archives.

Our experience ranges from large-scale comprehensive resource surveys and historic context statements, to intensive property assessments for historic significance. We consult to public agencies on design review of architectural projects using the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

We have established in-house standards for work in each of these disciplines, and have assembled a team with a proven level of experience in a variety of fields. The firm engages specialized local historians, technical editors, and authors as collaborators on our projects to ensure accurate investigations that are relevant to local settings.
