While she was Executive Secretary of the Sourisseau Academy of State and Local History, ARCHIVES & ARCHITECTURE founder Glory Anne Laffey coordinated an important program that supported local history writers, by providing small grants, publishing help, and proofing and editing of draft manuscripts. While running ARCHIVES & ARCHITECTURE, she also authored County Leadership, Santa Clara County Government History, and provided research for Santa Clara County Harvest of Change.

ARCHIVES & ARCHITECTURE partner Charlene Duval continues that tradition today, serving as an open-handed historian who is a valued coach to local history writers who have a story to tell from our collective memory. Charlene was co-author of Reflections of the Past, An Anthology of San José, and authored the Santa Clara County portion of An Architectural Guidebook to San Francisco and the Bay Area.

With writer and historian Krista Van Laan now joining with the staff of ARCHIVES & ARCHITECTURE, LLC, we have expanded our capacity as a firm in providing services related to local history publications. We work with both individuals seeking to publish their research and historical narratives, and businesses and organizations wishing to tell the the story of their treasured past. Krista is author of The Insider’s Guide to Technical Writing, and is presently finalizing a book on the Prairie Architecture of San Jose architect Frank Delos Wolfe.
